St Georges Quiz.
ladies of F.A.C.E. (Fundraising in Arboleas, Caring for
Everyone) organised a fabulous quiz night using St George as
The quiz was held at the Bar Kubatin underneath the Hostel
Meson in Arboleas.
The quizmaster, David Cundy, devised 50 questions almost all
of which related to St George, and included questions on
sport, geography, general knowledge and litrature.
Eighteen teams of between four and six persons entered the
event. The winners of the Wooden Spoon was a team
representing Albox Insurance led by Glen and Jayne Urwin.
The winning team was called Partaloa Players and they won
In addition to the quiz there was also a raffle for prizes
that had been donated by some of F.A.C.E.'s supporters and
sponsors. The charity would like to thank all their sponsors
on the night. They were Smooth FM Radio, Angels Nursing
Group, Sol Yoga Centre and Avalon Europe who all sponsored
one of the quiz rounds. Raffle prizes were donated by Anne
Morton, Zoe West, Lorraine Cundy and Albox Insurance.
The main aim was of course to raise money for the various
charities which F.A.C.E. supports on an on going basis. In
this they were very successful raising just over € 500.

all the economic gloom and doom F.A.C.E (Fundraising in
Arboleas, Caring for Everyone) supporters flocked to the
charities annual Christmas Market held in the Salón
Multiservicios del Ayuntamiento, Arboleas.
F.A.C.E. Committee Members were
stunned to find that within a few seconds of the market
opening, they received a donation of €400 from Tony Harwin,
last seasons Captain of the Boxers Golf Society in Albox. Each
year, the Captain of the Society is asked to identify a
charity of their choice and this year Tony had chosen Help
For Heroes and F.A.C.E. All charity events throughout
the season were dedicated to these named charities, and on
this occasion F.A.C.E. Were the lucky benefactors, receiving
50% of all monies raised

The market was full of stalls filled
with many tempting products for the Christmas Season and
there was also an entertainment programme that featured
"Carrie's Dusty Boots" Line Dancers who performed a tribute
to the Blues Brothers and to a trio of Christmas hit songs.
The fabulous "voices of Almanzora" choir, led by their
Musical Director Nick Duncan, sang familiar Christmas

Further donations were made to
F.A.C.E. Throughout the evening. Arboleas Deputy Mayor,
Roger Done, donated a bag full of bronze coins, which when
counted came to over €40! A very brave man called Mark Drew
had recently raised money for charity by having his hair cut
in the style of a badger. In so doing, he managed to raise
£403 for Children In Need and a further €325 for F.A.C.E. Even
more cash donations were made by the customers of Mrs Mac's
Pantry and Bar El Molino in Santapetar.
Santa Claus managed at this very busy
time of the year for him, to make a flying visit to Arboleas with
one of his elves, and he even made time to assist in the
draw of the F.A.C.E. Grand Christmas Raffle.. The top
prize of €200 was won by Patricia Sykes and the second prize
of €100 was won by Marilyn Simpkins.
In total more than € 2,500 was raised
by the evenings activities, for charities including MACS (Mojacar
Area Cancer Support, Age Concern España, the AECC (Asociación
Española Cntra el Cancer) and ALCER a Spanish association
